Using a Silencer Shop kiosk is an easy way to capture your demographic information and electronic fingerprints for ATF eForms 4. Using the kiosk is the fastest way to integrate your fingerprints into your profile to quickly get your suppressor or other NFA items.
Your visit to the kiosk is the easiest way to capture your information when you're getting a suppressor, and you could be thinking: can a Silencer Shop kiosk be used for SBRs? Yes, you can tap into the kiosk for any NFA item such as silencers and SBRs. Best of all, your one-time visit to the kiosk is a permanent solution for your current/future NFA items because the information is integrated into your online profile. And, the Silencer Shop kiosk is a superior solution to FD 258 fingerprint cards and the kiosk can be used with no out-of-pocket cost when you purchase your silencer or other NFA item from silencershop.com or a Powered By Silencer Shop dealer.
The Silencer Shop kiosk is your resource to capture demographic information and electronic fingerprints for NFA items such as suppressors, short barrel rifles (SBRs), or machine guns.
If you’re getting an NFA item and wondering: does ATF eForm 4 require fingerprints? Yes, when applying for a Form 4 (either paper application or the electronic version, which is an eForm 4) the applicant's fingerprints are required. The Silencer Shop kiosk scans your fingerprints and a digital file is submitted to the ATF with your application. If you want to get your suppressor quickly, you should utilize the electronic fingerprint scanning at the Silencer Shop kiosk because these digital files can be transmitted nearly instantly to the ATF when your eForm 4 is submitted.
With one visit to the Silencer Shop kiosk, your information (including your prints) will become a part of your profile and you can tap into these files for future purchases. You do not need to visit the kiosk or scan another set of prints for your next NFA item: after one visit to the Silencer Shop kiosk, you can order your next NFA items from home or when you’re on the go: anywhere that you have a computer or your smartphone.
You can use the Silencer Shop kiosk easily. Just visit a kiosk near you, bring your identification, and you can be done quickly.
Do you need anything to buy a suppressor? You will need to bring your government issued identification (such as a driver’s license or passport) and if you already registered at silencershop.com, bring the QR code we sent to you via email and text message. If you haven’t registered in advance of your visit, you can easily do so at the suppressor kiosk.
Your visit to the Silencer Shop kiosk will be completed in five simple steps that can be done in as little as five minutes:
Scan your QR code or enter your information (name, email address, etc) on the keyboard
Scan your fingerprints on the digital pad.
Sign the screen.
Answer a few demographic questions (height, eye color, etc).
You’re done and this information will be a part of your profile and you will not need to visit the kiosk again.
How Much is a Silencer Shop Kiosk?
For most customers that are wondering how much does a Silencer Shop kiosk cost, that amount will be $0. When placing your order at Silencer Shop's website, or in-person at a Powered By Silencer Shop dealer with a kiosk, the visit will be $0 . If you haven’t purchased your item on our site or at that location, we recommend that you contact the dealer you'd like to visit in advance. Their fee to use the kiosk is set by that location and it shouldn’t exceed $40 (the same price as the national average price for manual fingerprinting services).
You can find a kiosk by using the Silencer Shop dealer finder to locate the nearest kiosk. There are over 1,800 Powered By Silencer Shop dealers with kiosks in 42 states, just click this link and check the “has kiosk” box to filter your search specifically for dealers with kiosks.
The Silencer Shop kiosk is your one-stop resource for your demographic and fingerprinting needs for your ATF eForm 4. These innovative silencer kiosk devices are located throughout the US and your visit can be done in under five minutes with no additional charge. If this is your first suppressor or other NFA item and you’re wondering: can I visit the kiosk and if I haven’t made a purchase yet, yes. You can visit the Silencer Shop kiosk before you purchase your NFA item. Also, if you have questions about your passport photos for suppressors and eForm 4, you can read our article here.
Purchase your suppressor and tax stamp first, then go to the kiosk to submit your fingerprints, you can also fill out the rest of the registration information and submit your photo via the Silencer Shop app. From there, our compliance team will review your information, and prepare the eform, and once the application is certified by you and your dealer it will be sent off to the ATF for processing. - Chase
My wife and I tried to use a kiosk to take our fingerprints. It worked for me, but not so much for my wife. She has burns (permanent scars) on two fingers. She also has a medical condition that causes wrinkle skin on her fingers. What other options does she have for meeting the ATF’s requirements?
Hi Susan, your wife could have traditional fingerprint cards done and submit a cover letter explaining the incomplete fingerprints which can be sent to the ATF. Please contact our compliance team for more info at 512-931-4556 or email@example.com. - Chase
Can the Silencer Shop kiosk be used for other purposes? For example, can I go to a dealer with a kiosk and have them take fingerprints for a state concealed carry permit? If not, is this something that could be incorporated into future software updates?
Two Local Dealers are both Powered-By Silencer Shop dealers. One has a kiosk but the other doesn't. The dealer that doesn't have the kiosk has a better price for the silencer I would like to purchase. If I choose the dealer with the lower price can I still go and use the kiosk at the other dealer?
Hey Mick, if you purchase through our website there is no transfer fee or kiosk fee. If you purchase directly through one of the Powered by Silencer Shop dealers they may charge a fee to use the kiosk, as they are independently owned and operated. - Chase
After reading all of this, I am still confused if the kiosk is something I can access from home, or a business I must travel to in person in order to get fingerprinted. The search engine says the nearest location is a six hour drive away from me…
:- ). I processed my fingerprints and photo at a kiosk local to me, (40 dollar charge as per normal) within the last two weeks. Question, when I log in to my account, (2 weeks or so after my kiosk visit), it indicates that there is no photo or fingerprints on file. Do these fields only populate after the BATFE approves me as a future purchaser or did something fall thru the cracks?
Hey Francis, your fingerprints, photo, and registration information should all show as complete on your profile. If you're having an issue seeing their fields, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. - Chase
I was told by my a local shop that I couldn't use their kios because I did not purchase my suppressor through them and/or was not planning to transfer through them... I didn't think they were allowed to do that.
Hey Elliot, every LGS is independently owned, so there is some latitude with how they engage with people who want to use the kiosk. If the transfer was initiated on our site and going to them, there is no charge to the customer. But if the item is going to a different FFL/SOT, that dealer has the discretion to administer the kiosk as they wish. - Chase
I wish the kiosk was more relatively available to individuals that are wishing to find the paperwork to get a suppressor. I live in the city where I have to drive, 45 miles each way and order just to get paperwork done and completed.
I hear you Jason, new kiosk locations are being added frequently, and luckily you only need to visit the kiosk once and you're done. After your fingerprints are submitted everything else can be managed through the Silencer Shop portal and the Silencer Shop app. - Chase
Sure, the Kiosk guides you to the process.
But they are not explaining how to actually tie it into the fed eforms.
The A-holes at the gun shop, West coast armory in Bellevue talk really fast and just wave their F@/$&7 hands and say, ‘it’s real easy just go online’
Hi Jeffrey, thank you for sharing your experience. After you submit your fingerprints and registration info on the kiosk and submit your photo via the Silencer Shop app, the next step is to create an ATF eForms account. From there, our compliance team will verify your information, and the eForm will be prepared. Your dealer will action your application and you will get a "ready to certify" email, where you and the dealer will certify your application together, and your application will be submitted to the ATF for processing. I have also linked a video that goes over the 6 simple steps ( https://youtu.be/SveYAibJYKQ ). If you need any more info please give us a call at 512-931-4556. - Chase
I love the kiosk option because it simplifies the registration process greatly. But, I do wish that the shops that had kiosks would have to advertise the cost to use them on this site so you can see that when searching for a shop. When I went in to submit fingerprints I was caught off-guard with a $42 charge to use the kiosk.
Hi Travis! We are happy you enjoy the simplicity of using our kiosks. Our kiosks are free to any customer purchasing directly from Silencer Shop (after the purchase of an NFA item is made) and you will also enjoy the benefits of No Transfer Fees and Free Shipping. If you walk into a dealer and purchase directly from them, the dealer may charge a fee for the use of the kiosk, a fee for the transfer of the item, and may also charge a fee for the application filing. The good news is that once the kiosk is used once, you shouldn't ever have to visit it again. From here forward we retain your information for future filings. This means you can place an order online, give us a call and place your order over the phone, or visit any of the dealers in our Powered-By network and place your order in their store and we will submit your Form 4 application. It's never a bad idea to give your selected dealer a call before scheduling a kiosk visit or sending a transfer their way, open communication is the best policy to have when starting an NFA transfer!
Hi Jesus, if you purchase through silencershop.com there is no kiosk or transfer fee. Also, if you have already used a kiosk to submit your fingerprints you will not need to visit the kiosk for future orders. - Chase
Hi CDB! While we hope you always keep us in mind for your suppression needs, we take no offense to you sending business to your local and loyal GS. As long as your chosen dealer is a Powered-By Silencer Shop Partner, we are most willing to assist with your Form 4 application. So to clarify, you don't need to purchase directly from us (that means you most certainly can buy that find of a lifetime machinegun on GunBroker) you just need to: have it transferred to your local Powered-By Silencer Shop dealer, negotiate your transfer fee with said dealer, and then sit back and let us knock out that Form 4 application for you!
Hi J.T.! We'd love to get you started! You can buy your item from our online store along with a tax stamp, and send a copy of your trust to Trust@SilencerShop.com. It's that simple! If there is anything missing or requiring an update/amendment then we will review and email you to advise of the necessary info. If you'd like assistance, use our live chat or call our incredible sales staff to get started! Simply click the bottom right blue button that says Live Chat or pick up the phone and dial (512) 931-4556.
