Which Low-Back-Pressure Can Fits Your Rifle?

A silencer that vents hot gasses back towards the shooter’s face can hardly be considered an upgrade, which is why modern designs like the Velos LBP series from SilencerCo prioritize blowback control. Utilizing a 3D-printed Inconel core and a high-temp V-Series Cerakote, the Velos LBP 556 and Velos LBP 762 keep the shooter comfortable even under the most aggressive firing schedules.

But deciding between the two isn’t as simple as whether or not you’re building for a 5.56 barrel or a 7.62 rifle. While the 556 provides better sound performance on compatible barrels, the 762 offers greater versatility and even better performance with high volumes of fire. Consider the full advantages of both, and you’ll be equipped to make the most informed decision possible.

Build and Materials

Shared construction and durability

Each Velos LBP begins as a Direct Metal Laser Sintered (DMLS) Inconel 625 core, a nickel-based superalloy withstands extreme heat from sustained fire. The patented Hoplon blast baffle sits at the heart of the design, its angled geometry (enabled by modern 3D-printing technology) helping deflect unburned powder and debris, extending service life during heavy usage.

SilencerCo then fully welds the core to 17-4 stainless front and rear modules for even more toughness and corrosion resistance while a high-temperature V-Series Cerakote finish protects the exterior.

Caliber Coverage and Use Cases

The tighter bore on the Velos LBP 556 provides better performance for dedicated 5.56 and .223 usage, providing a quieter shooting experience than a .30-cal suppressor on the same barrel. Its included 1/2×28 ASR Flash Hider allows for immediate installation on standard-thread AR barrels, providing quick detach (QD) capability right out of the box.

The wide bore of the Velos LBP 762 is optimized for 7.62 and .308 cartridges, but also allows for a greater degree of versatility across multiple platforms. This allows users to swap the LBP 762 across .308 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, .300 BLK, and other .30-cal rifles as well as 5.56. Additionally, the 762 carries a belt-fed rating, marking it as a maximum durability suppressor capable of chewing through even the most aggressive firing schedules.

Size, Weight, and Handling

The Velos LBP 556 is the lighter and shorter option at 15.2 ounces and 5.98 inches while the

Velos LBP 762 adds slightly more length and mass at 16.5 ounces and 6.4 inches. While the difference is not extreme, shooters should carefully consider the tradeoff between handling and versatility when considering the 762 for a .223 barrel.

Gas, Blowback, and Shooter Comfort

Both models shine in this category, taking full advantage of SilencerCo’s Hoplon blast baffle design to provide a significant reduction in back pressure compared to traditional baffle stacks. This internal format helps push gases forward, keeping gas-to-face minimal and optics cleaner. Especially on high-pressure SBRs or high-round-count training, this comfort-first design pays significant dividends.

Mounting and Ecosystem Fit

Both suppressors use the Charlie rear pattern mounting format and ship with an ASR mount for fast attach and detach.

To swap between multiple rifles, simply install an ASR device on each host and move the suppressor as needed.

What’s in the Box and Finish
