SilencerCo Omega 36M vs Hybrid 46M:

Which Multi-Cal Suppressor Should You Run?

Multi-caliber suppressors deliver maximum versatility, improving your gun safe with a single purchase. While the majority of multi-cal silencers are essentially big bore cans able to be mounted on smaller calibers, a SilencerCo multi caliber suppressor takes things a step further. Two of their top offerings (and arguably two of the best multi-caliber suppressors on the market) are SilencerCo’s Omega 36M and Hybrid 46M.

Utilizing the Charlie-series mounting ecosystem, both can shift between short and long configurations and stretch from pistol calibers to serious rifle cartridges. However, they differ in some key areas. The SilencerCo Omega 36M leans toward lighter handling and efficiency with a .36 bore, accommodating up to .338 Lapua Magnum. Conversely, the SilencerCo Hybrid 46M is the heavy-hitter, expanding bore coverage up to .45-70 Government and .458 SOCOM while staying modular.

Both feature a modular two-stage configuration: a shorter setup for maximum maneuverability and a longer format for maximized sound suppression, allowing shooters to easily adapt to the needs of their environment. If you’re looking for a concise breakdown between the Omega 36M vs Hybrid 46M for your next universal silencer choice, read on for the specs, caliber coverage, handling, and use cases so you can choose the best option for your collection.

Build & Materials

Omega 36M construction

The SilencerCo Omega 36M blends titanium, Inconel, 17-4 stainless, and a cobalt alloy to optimize its strength-to-weight ratio. The lighter weight makes it an excellent crossover suppressor for pistol-caliber carbines and rifles, ideally suited for use on both pistol caliber carbines (PCCs) and intermediate rifle calibers.

Hybrid 46M construction

The SilencerCo Hybrid 46M is built with a slightly heavier (by 2.4 oz) stack of 17-4 stainless, titanium, and Inconel modular baffles. Its large bore diameter is designed to handle big-bore rifle calibers like .458 SOCOM and .45-70 Government.

Size, Weight, and Handling

SilencerCo Omega 36M

The Omega 36M is the lightest in short mode at under 10 ounces, making it ideal for PCCs, handguns with booster setups, or lighter rifles where balance matters. Even in long mode, it stays high-speed and low-drag, delivering serious suppression for calibers up to .338 Lapua Magnum without adding the heft of a big-bore can.

SilencerCo Hybrid 46M

The Hybrid 46M adds a few ounces to deliver true big-bore capability, balancing surprisingly well on lever guns and hunting rifles chambered in .45-70 or cartridges like 350 Legend. In short mode it remains compact, while long mode provides maximum suppression for heavy-hitting rounds.

Caliber Coverage and Barrel Rules

Omega 36M:

  • 5.56 NATO: 10 in
  • .308 Winchester: 16 in
  • .300 Winchester Magnum: 20 in
  • .338 Lapua Magnum: 20 in

Hybrid 46M:

  • 45-70 GOV: 16 in
  • .458 SOCOM: 8 in
  • .300 Winchester Magnum: 20 in
  • .338 Lapua Magnum: 20 in

Both the Omega 36M and Hybrid 46M can be shot with 9mm, .45 ACP, 5.56 NATO, and 7.62mm.

Generally speaking, the Omega 36M is optimized for shorter barrel lengths, while the Hybrid 46M is best for larger bores and longer barrels. Either suppressor can be used for full-auto within manufacturer guidance.

Mounting and Ecosystem Fit

Both suppressors use the Charlie-series ecosystem, meaning they can accept:

  • ASR quick-detach mounts
  • Direct-thread adapters
  • 3-lug mounts for PCCs
  • Pistons and boosters for handguns

The Charlie-series compatibility of the Omega 36M ensures a wide array of mounting options, from ASR quick-detach to direct thread, 3-lug, and boosters for pistols. The Hybrid 46M comes with an ASR mount as well, plus two front caps for .46 and .30, allowing shooters to optimize their noise suppression. Buyers should confirm the correct muzzle device (ASR brake or flash hider, direct thread, etc.) for their chosen host firearm. As always, SilencerShop is ready to help with any compatibility questions you have.

Sound, Tone, and Gas

The smaller bore of the Omega 36M makes it slightly more efficient when suppressing calibers under .36, such as 5.56 NATO, 9mm, or .308. This can translate to a few decibels’ advantage and a tighter tone.

The Hybrid 46M trades some efficiency for bore flexibility. While it may be slightly louder on 5.56 or 9 mm than the Omega 36M, it is the clear winner if you plan to shoot .45-70 Government, .450 Bushmaster, or .458 SOCOM.
