Rugged Obsidian 45
The Rugged Obsidian 45 is a modular, multi-caliber suppressor rated for .45 ACP, 9mm, 10mm, .40 S&W, .45 Colt, .300 BLK subsonic, 350 Legend, .450 Bushmaster, 458 SOCOM, and most common lever-action calibers. In standard configuration it measures 8.6 inches and weighs 12.8 oz. With the ADAPT Module removed it drops to 6.7 inches and 10.7 oz. Both lengths come with one tax stamp.
If you are working through the NFA process for the first time, our complete guide to buying a suppressor online has everything you need.
What Makes the Rugged Obsidian 45 Different
The headline feature is ADAPT Modular Technology. Instead of choosing between a short suppressor and a full-length suppressor at the time of purchase, the Obsidian 45 ships with an ADAPT Module that allows the suppressor to run in either configuration. Remove the module for a shorter, lighter package. Attach it for maximum internal volume and sound suppression. Same suppressor, two lengths, one tax stamp. This is a genuine one-item solution to a problem that used to require two separate NFA items.
The baffles are machined from 17-4 stainless steel barstock and feature two indexing tabs that ensure proper alignment during reassembly. Every baffle can only go back together the correct way, which matters for a user-serviceable pistol suppressor that will see regular cleaning. The baffle design also creates a gas seal between the baffles and the tube that virtually eliminates carbon migration into that interface, which is one of the most common causes of difficulty when cleaning and disassembling pistol suppressors.
The mounting system uses a non-slotted piston design that creates a full-circumference gas seal around the piston rather than the partial seal produced by slotted pistons. This substantially reduces gas blowback to the shooter, which is the primary complaint against most pistol suppressors on the market. The Obsidian 45 piston is also cross-compatible with SilencerCo slotted pistons, meaning shooters who already have SilencerCo-threaded hosts can run the Obsidian 45 without buying new muzzle hardware. The Obsidian 45 mount is machined from 17-4 stainless steel barstock with the serialized engraving placed over the thickest cross-section of the steel, allowing the mount to be replaced independently if it ever becomes damaged without returning the entire suppressor.
The Obsidian 45 is Belt Fed Rated, meaning it is engineered to sustain any rate of fire without becoming the limiting factor in your system. Rugged backs this with their Unconditional Lifetime Warranty. No legal fine print, no exclusions based on how the damage occurred, and an average warranty service turnaround of 16 business hours.

Obsidian 45 Cross-Compatibility and Accessories
The Obsidian 45 is fully compatible with all Obsidian 9 accessories including pistons, fixed mounts, fixed barrel spacers, and 3-lug mounts. Shooters who already own an Obsidian 9 can share mounting hardware across both suppressors without additional purchases. Pistons are available in multiple thread pitches for compatibility with a wide range of hosts. The Obsidian 45 3-Lug Mount enables compatibility with 3-lug host firearms. For PCCs and fixed-barrel hosts, a fixed barrel spacer eliminates the need for a booster assembly. Obsidian 45 pistons are cross-compatible with SilencerCo slotted pistons.
Who the Rugged Obsidian 45 Is Best For
The Obsidian 45 is built for shooters who want a single suppressor to cover their entire pistol and PCC inventory without compromise. The modular ADAPT configuration gives it genuine versatility across use cases: run it in short configuration on a compact carry host where overall length matters, swap to standard configuration on a full-size pistol or PCC where maximum suppression is the goal.
It is particularly well suited for .45 ACP handgun owners who want the quietest available option in the caliber, PCC owners running .45 ACP, .40 S&W, or 10mm hosts where belt-fed durability and non-slotted gas sealing improve the suppressed experience, lever-action shooters running pistol calibers who want a single suppressor across their rifle and handgun, and Obsidian 9 owners who want to expand to .45 ACP without starting a new accessory ecosystem.
