SilencerCo Spectre II

SilencerCo Spectre II

The Spectre II was the first 'Easy To Clean' rimfire suppressor that didn't rely on a monocore baffle

Before the Spectre II hit the market, users had to choose between an easy-to-clean monocore suppressor, or an extremely quiet K-Baffle design.

SilencerCo changed that with the Spectre II by pioneering their Click-Together baffle system; which provided nearly the same performance as a true K-Baffle as well as the easy maintenance of a monocore.  As a result, the Spectre II was an instant success!

The Spectre II was an incredibly influential silencer.  As a result, you'll find that most of today's modern rimfire designs have continued to build on its best elements with newer & better features.

Thanks to the Spectre II's innovation, there has never been a better time to be in the market for a rimfire suppressor!

From the Manufacturer

With its construction of ultra high performance and tough Stainless Steel, the SilencerCo (previously SWR) Spectre II allows weapon fire to go virtually unnoticed. It is not only super tough, but also one of the quietest 22 suppressor known to man. With the Spectre II, users will also enjoy its multi-caliber versatility.

The Spectre II has a unique CTA baffle design for easy disassembly and is user serviceable, which is very important for any .22 lr silencer.

Because the .22 lr round is not copper jacketed, molten lead and carbon debris will explode into the silencer when the projectile exits the muzzle. After some time it is possible for a .22 suppressor to fill completely with lead and become heavy and ineffective.

To avoid this issue .22 silencers must be able to be disassembled for cleaning and regularly maintained. Most .22 silencers on the market can be disassembled for cleaning, however they require cleaning every 50 to 200 rounds or often times they will fuse together and they are unable to come apart. When the lead and carbon debris adhere to the inner wall of the silencer tube and fill the spaces between the baffles and the tube, there is simply too much build up of fouling and lead to remove the tube from most .22 lr silencers on the market.

The Spectre II has the unique CTA baffle design that keeps the carbon and lead debris from reaching the silencer tube allowing it to be disassembled easily.

I am 100% satisfied with this suppressor. Not only is it ultra-quiet, it is also extremely easy to disassemble and clean. The CTA baffles keep the crud away from the outer tube walls, allowing the baffle stack to be easily removed. Stainless steel construction also allows the suppressor to be immersed in DIP (50/50 vinegar and peroxide) if excess crud does build up. (DIP should be used with EXTREME caution. Read up before attempting its use).
I also have a Gemtech Outback II, which is the exact opposite of the Spectre II when it comes to buildup, disassembly and cleaning. If the Outback is not dismantled after 50-75 rounds, good luck getting it apart.
I now own three SilencerCo suppressors, and each of them is a joy to own. Great products

If you want Hollywood quiet from your bolt action .22LR this will certainly do it! On my M&P 15-22 the only noise you hear is the bolt cycle followed by the downrange swack! I get a slight FRP using a pistol, but this was expected. The can is built like a tank so I'd expect many years of service from it.

  • Daniel11/26/2015

This can is a winner, only one I like better is the sparrow, but by a narrow margin. Silencer Shop was great and I'll purchase from them again when I save up some more mad money. I'd recommend trying to go through a local transfer dealer that has a range so you can use the can while it's in jail.

  • JUAN11/25/2015

Very quiet can, on bolt action it sounded like dry firing, except for the downrange bullet impact. Love it...

  • JR10/31/2015

Finally received my spectre2. 6 months wait, which was surprising, I thought it would be longer. Silencer shop direct rocks! Put in on my s&w22 compact and it is a match made in heaven. So quiet all I can hear is the slide and the impact of the bullet in the sand. My pellet gun is just as loud or louder. Put 100 rounds no issues cycling with CCI standard velocity ammo. First round pop was barely noticeable. Was a breeze to take apart clean and put together. All in all the best 22lr suppressor I have ever shot and the reason I bought it after testing my friends different brands. Sparrow SS is nice, but for the price, it doesn't hold a candle to the spectre2 which side by side, specter 2 seem quieter to me as well as everyone who went shooting with me. Best 22lr suppressor for the money period!

  • Roy8/29/2015

The Silencerco Spectre II is a great little silencer for your 22lr that doesn't break the bank. It performs just as well as any other that I have, at less cost. It's size and weight is also well within range of some of the competitors. Silencer Shop is by far the easiest and less costly way to buy silencers, especially if you live in Texas.

  • Shel7/7/2015

I made a first time purchase of a silencer from Silencer Shop in November using an FFL dealer where I live, so had to wait for the transfer dealer to dealer. Silencer Shop made the entire deal seamless. Their people knew the answer to every single question that a silencer noob like myself could throw at them. I used the printable Gun Trust from this site and after what seemed both an interminable yet relatively short wait for the Government to do their thing, i had my silencer in my hands in May. It was quicker than I had dreaded, and perhaps the Gun Trust saved a little time.
The Spectre 2 isn't the lightest .22 can out there, but it is still light enough on my pistols. I shoot matches with a Glock 35, and practice a bit with an Advantage Arms aluminum upper, shooting .22. With the Spectre screwed on it feels much like the heavier 35 slide. It does spit some with the blow-back function of the kit, bit with safety glasses it isn't all that bad, and I've not experienced the spray with other blow-back pistols. Accuracy with a Savage Mark 2 TRR is awesome. Cleaning is simple using a dip method, hydrogen peroxide/vinegar solution on the baffles only.
All in all I couldn't be happier, unless maybe I had purchased 2 at the same time!

Its difficult to add much to the good things already said about this product and SilencerCo. Great can, not as heavy or long as I was expecting based on other reviews so in that I was pleasantly surprised. I will add that, while it is a huge plus that you can actually clean it, my experience is that the cleaning can take significant time (true for all rimfire cans I am sure). Certainly not a bore snake pull-thru and good to go for another 1000. Maybe I'm just old and arthritic, but holding the 8 tiny baffles and scrubbing with a brush is simple, but can be a tedious process. If you plan to use a lot of bulk pack high velocity, expect the baffles to be very dirty after 200+ rounds, far fewer than the recommended cleaning interval. I now know why SilencerCo specifically states on their website that bulk rimfire is unnecessarily dirty. Overall, great product and much more robust than an aluminum can.

Nice quiet can built like a tank - not heavy - great value. Silencer Shops Customer Service is great. Had this one shipped to my house. No hassels they make it all so easy. If you are on the fence go ahead and take the plunge you won't regret it.

  • Wade4/5/2015

I bought two of these so my son and I could both us out 22LR uppers at the same time. Mine is on a registered M16 lower. It is quieter than my pellet rifle when using Winchester subsonics. There is some first round pop with super sonic ammo, but it varies by brand and is somewhat random in how noticeable it is. Comes apart easy and cleans up nicely. Some of the baffles wanted to stay locked together when they were new, but after shooting them the first time that has gotten better. Don't find assembling the baffles a pain like some folks make out. Transaction with Silencer Shop was smooth. Next purchase will be something really light for .22LR out of our CZ Shadow Tacticals with kadet kits.

  • dissellj3/20/2015

First, no FRP at all on the Ruger 22/45 Lite! Second, just a nearly unnoticeable, dull "chunk" is all that is heard with the Spectre ll and subsonics. Third, disassembles with ease and the baffles require only a light hosing with any good solvent, an hour of time, wiping/brushing and reassembly. Then go back out and shoot another 500 rounds! Repeat as often as necessary to retain smile! Easily more quiet than a staple gun or pellet gun. I have a Sparrow as well as the Spectre ll and could not pick one above the other. Sparrow is dedicated to a Savage Mark 2 and the Spectre will live on the Ruger. All is well. This is a fantastic can!!!

  • Jeremy3/10/2015

Have had a Spectre for over 3 years and it works great. No problems what so ever.

  • Rick S1/6/2015

Great little can, I use it on my M&P compact, Walther 22, HMR 17 and as soon as i can get a threaded barrel for my 5.7 I will use on it, I'm considering buying 2 more so me and my boys can all have one, You just can't go wrong with this can and The Silencer Shop!

  • kenroe12/6/2014

I bought this suppressor to use on my Savage FVSR and my Browning Buckmark. This suppressor is quiet! I find the breakdown and cleaning to be easy, as well as the assembly. Only thing I could ask for is a quick mount since I use it on two weapons. You will not be disappointed!

  • brian_j11/26/2014

I love this can. Put it on my PS90 SBR and took things from non-hearing safe and obnoxiously loud to suppressed bliss. A little longer and thinner than the Sparrow, but very effective. I've run it on my Beretta ARX160 also without any issues and no POI. Silencershop knows their stuff and makes things very simple with the transfer process. I've got over a dozen silencers from them over the past year and will continue to use them. Great prices, great customer service. You can't beat it.

  • Peter R.7/19/2014

Hey guys, heres a little video using the spectre II!

  • Frank Garner7/2/2014

VERY HAPPY with my Spectre 2...! My Smith & Wesson M&P 22LR sounds like a pellet gun/ FNH57 sounds like a 22LR without an suppressor plus I can shoot now with out a fire ball coming out from my FNH57.

  • Jason L6/22/2014

    Silencer Shop = awesome
    Silencer Co = awesome
    Spectre 2 = awesome

love this can! It does come apart EZ, but dont let that fool you. LEAD is not easy to clean. It took me a week and a half to get 1 year of lead out of the can (~3000 rounds). Soak in hoppes, scrape, soak, scrape ect..... over and over and over. I wanted to glass bead blast the parts but could not get a good answer if it was ok to do so. Lesson learned dont wait a year to clean it if you shoot alot. My current most favorite gun is a Savage Tactical in 17HMR with illuminated sweet 17 scope and red light and Spec 2 can. Tons of critters have been blasted with this set up. Hogs, gators, crows, armadillos, squirrels, doves, rabbits, gar fish, opossims all have been obliterated with this sweet set up. Look mom no hearing protection! Great can, just dont wait a year to clean it or you will be upset. Maybe santa will bring me an FN 5.7 and threaded barrel.... fingers crossed.

  • kcgunesq5/29/2014

Simply put, this is the current (2013-2014) standard for top-tier rimfire suppressors. While a few may weight slightly less, or reduce sound one or two db more, none do so in such a complete and balanced package together with the multi-caliber capabilities of the Spectre II.

Buy this silencer without hesitation or reservation.

  • Sonny5/14/2014

I can't believe how quiet this suppressor really is, I'm so impressed I wish I had 10 of them. It's the best $295 I've ever spent. It's sweet on my 10/22 and Ruger 22/45 Lite. Buy one or a dozen , you will love them.

  • Jeff5/3/2014

Awesome can. On the 22/45 Lite with Aguila 40gr subs, it sounds like a pellet gun from the first round. The action noise on the Mosquito is louder than the shot. Feels very solid in the hand as well. Weight was not a problem on either of my pistol hosts. If you have a 22/45 or Mark II/III or Buckmark with the steel barrel, it might be a bit nose-heavy, but the Lite or TacSol with the aluminum upper and Mosquito balance fine.

  • Eric4/27/2014

Great multi use suppressor, built like a tank and easy to clean. This is my first 22lr suppressor and I highly recommend it for first time buyers. Great price for what you get, Silencerco has great customer support, and it works great on both my semi-auto and bolt action 22's. I would say the only flaw is the weight, if you plan to use it on a hand gun a lot. Check the length on your threads, thread specs are on Silencerco's website. Some 22 rifles are threaded longer then .400.

  • Jim4/24/2014

Great can. I have 3 rimfire suppressors (AAC Pilot II, SWR Spectre II and Silencerco Sparrow) and regularly shoot them side-by-side. Each has it's pros and cons.

The Spectre II is easy to service. It's very forgiving if you miss a cleaning or two. Great suppression. I don't notice a first round pop at all. A little bit heavier than some of the cans out there, but not noticeable on a rifle. I run mine on a dedicated 22 LR AR 15 SBR. It makes shooting enjoyable. We put TONS of rounds through it and it keeps on rocking. It's also seen a fair share of use on my 17 HMR.

  • jebosworth4/23/2014

This is a great can for the money. I've mounted it on a 22/45 as well as a Walther P22. No FRP and sounds like a pellet gun. I have put around 500 rounds through it without cleaning and have seen no fall in performance. This is my first can and I have to say SilencerShop was great to deal with. Great communication during the process.

  • James4/23/2014

Great little can. Hosted it on a Ruger 22/45. No FRP and sounds like a pellet gun. This was my first can purchase and am very pleased with it. SilencerShop was great to deal with. Great communication throughout the process.

  • Frank4/21/2014

Great silencer at the best price! We used this on a walther p22. The sound reduction was equal to or better than other suppressors 2x or 3x more expensive. Would highly recommend.

Pros: light weight, easy to sight, easiest to disassemble (no tools really needed)
Cons: a little bit of blowback debris but may have been dirty ammo

  • Scott4/20/2014

I have had the Spectre II for about a year now. It is shot from a Ruger 22/45 with a PacLite upper and a Savage Mark II FVSR. Both gun are so much more fun now and the rifle is a squirrel's worst nightmare. The first round pop is better than several other suppressors I have used. It is quiet and easy to take down and clean. For a 22 can I strongly recommend this can. Save the money and be happy.

  • Eric4/19/2014

Just got the Spectre II last week. Its a great multi purpose suppressor, used it on both .22 and 17 hmr bolt action rifles. .22 with subsonic requires no hearing protection and the 17 hmr I used lite hearing protection"crack from it going supersonic". Its heaver then most of the other .22 cans. The stainless is more forgiving to cleaning solutions then alum. and can handle multi cal. Perfect Can for the first time buyer. Silencerco and Silencer Shop were both great in answering all of my questions when I was trying to find a .22 suppressor that meet my needs.

  • jeremy.mcinroe4/18/2014

This is an extremely durable suppressor and I'm not afraid to put it to hard use since it is all stainless steel. I bought it because of the low price and for how tough it is! I have two other more expensive 22LR cans that I bought before this was available and the suppression between them (Element & SS Sparrow) is so close that I don't have a preference. You aren't going to hurt it when using harsh cleaning methods.

Since the Spectre II is easy to clean, sounds great, and is tough as nails, I usually pick this one up when out plinking on the ranch. I gave it 4 stars because the baffles in mine are a little difficult to remove from the tube, and not all the CTA baffles click together snug like they do on my Octane 9HD. Some of the baffles just rest on top of the other will fall off if not holding them together. When assembling the baffles in the tube, the alignment changes as the baffles rotate freely when "clicked" together.

I'm not sure how important the alignment is, SWR recommended that the notches in the baffles line up for better accuracy and suppression. I'm not a good enough shot for the alignment to matter, so I may only be missing out on a tiny bit of suppression gain. I don't think the issues I have are normal and I'm quite sure that SilencerCo would "fix" it for me for free. If it weren't for that, I would have given it 5 stars.

  • btmm4/18/2014

I've had my spectre for a little over a year now and have put nearly 1500 rounds through it to date. I'm a huge fan of this little suppressor. It is as quiet as my buddy's sparrow and has less first round pop. It is easy to disassemble and clean as well. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid rimfire can.

  • Peter R.4/2/2014

Upon review, this has been the highest value .22lr can that I have found.
Makes recreational shooting much more fun and removes the annoyance of gunfire for those who would rather not hear it.

Unfortunately, when it comes the firearms rights you have to pay for the 5th amendment.

But if your willing to pay, Id suggest the Spectre II.

Thanks Silencershop.com, keeping the prices well below the competition.
