WHO WE ARE

Coates Guns LLC is a veteran-owned retail gun shop in Southern Iowa – originally opened in 1992 as Mike’s Guns. We stock a variety of new & used firearms, silencers, ammunition, and accessories.

We are a small business in a small town. That means more attention for each individual customer and better product & industry knowledge than you will find in many big-box retailers.

Coates Guns was one of the very first Class III Dealers in Iowa – for three years before Iowa’s Hearing Protection Act was passed in 2016 – and has the knowledge, inventory, connections, & guidance you need for all of your NFA purchases!

WHAT WE DO

We buy, sell, trade, pawn, transfer, and consign all new & used firearms, silencers, ammunition, and accessories. If we do not have the item you are looking for on our shelves, chances are we can get it!

We also offer basic gunsmithing services such as firearm cleaning & inspection, optic mounting & boresighting, handgun sight installation & replacement, and AR platform rifle building & customization.

OTHER SERVICES

Buy a firearm or silencer online or from out of state? No problem! We offer $15 FFL & $75 NFA transfers (does not apply to any SilencerShop-related purchases using us as your dealer - those are always free). Simply let us know that you need a transfer and we will do the rest!
