The result is the B&T APC223/556, a modern, fully ambidextrous rifle that carries over key features from the original B&T APC9. It utilizes a short-stroke piston operating system, designed for suppressor use and regulated by an adjustable gas valve, allowing for tuning in response to increased fouling from heavy use or suppressed fire.

The B&T APC223/556 features a 16.5-inch barrel and a hydraulic buffer system to help reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise, while also enhancing performance through intermediate barriers. Designed with compactness and versatility in mind, this rifle is well-suited for applications requiring discreet deployment.
