SilencerCo Scythe Ti
vs
Scythe STM:

Which Scythe Fits Your Rifle?

Built to harvest big game, the Scythe series from SilencerCo is their premiere .30 caliber suppressor built for hunters making precision shots on the trail. But while both offer excellent sound suppression, each is tuned to specific needs.

The SilencerCo Scythe Ti is an ultralight option weighing in at an astonishing 7.3 oz, built to minimize the burdens hunters are carrying on the way to set up their critical shot. The SilencerCo Scythe STM features an extremely durable stainless steel construction, modularity between short and long configurations, and a full-auto rating. Both come with SilencerCo’s limited lifetime warranty, have no barrel restrictions, and accept the same range of calibers from .223 Rem to .300 RUM.

For the full Scythe Ti vs Scythe STM matchup, follow us as we walk through the advantages and roles of each to decide which should cap off your hunting rifle the next time you venture out into the wild.

Build & Materials

Scythe Ti - Ultralight Titanium

The SilecerCo Scythe Ti has an entirely titanium construction, utilizing both Grade 5 and Grade 9 alloys to maximize strength and minimize weight. At just over 7 ounces (remarkably low for a big-bore suppressor) it is ideal for lightweight hunting builds, long-trek mountain rifles, and precision setups where muzzle weight balance is a priority.

Scythe STM - Durable Steel

The SilencerCo Scythe STM is built from 17-4 stainless steel, giving it far greater heat resistance and durability, allowing it to be used in both precision and full-auto roles. Its modular system allows shooters to switch between a short mode (5.1 in, 10.4 oz) and a long configuration (6.9 in, 14.7 oz), ensuring users can adapt the silencer to their needs.

Size, Weight, and Handling

The Scythe series is already more lightweight than other .30 cal suppressors, making the stark weight difference between the Ti and STM all the more impressive. The Scythe Ti is roughly half the mass of the long configuration STM in long mode and still 3 ounces lighter than the STM even in short mode. On long treks through rough terrain, the Scythe Ti enables significant weight savings.

However, the Scythe STM is by no means a heavy suppressor. In short mode it comes in at just over 10 ounces and 5 inches with the Anchor Brake installed. This makes it an appealing option for short barrelled rifles (SBRs) and carbines, where swing weight and overall length are critical considerations. In long mode, it adds back about two inches to deliver stronger suppression across all supported calibers.

Mounting and Ecosystem Fit

Both suppressors share the Bravo rear pattern, making them cross-compatible with SilencerCo’s Bravo mount and ASR ecosystem, two highly popular and reliable quick detach (QD) systems.

Caliber Coverage, Full-Auto, and Barrel Notes

Both suppressors cover calibers from .223 Rem through .300 RUM, making them broadly versatile.

The SilencerCo Scythe Ti is suitable for hunting rifles, bolt actions, and semi-auto carbines fired at a paced rate, but is not rated for full-auto.

The SilencerCo Scythe STM is fully full-auto rated, making it safe to run on automatic SBRs, carbines, and rifles.

Sound, Tone, and Use Cases

Manufacturer dB averages show both suppressors delivering strong numbers. The Scythe Ti trends slightly quieter while the STM’s modular design lets shooters optimize: quieter in long mode, louder but more compact in short.

Remember: tone and “perceived sound” vary by host, ammo, and shooter position.

What’s in the Box and Finish

Both suppressors ship with:

  • Radial tool, Bravo tool, and basic tool.
  • 5/8x24 direct-thread mount.
  • .30 cal Single-Port Anchor Brake.

Finishes differ slightly:

  • Scythe Ti: Type II anodize with oil finish.
  • Scythe STM: High-temp Cerakote for durability.

Always check the PDPs for the latest inclusions before ordering.

Either way you get:

  • Bravo pattern compatibility with ASR support.
  • Included Anchor Brake and direct-thread mount.
