LMT MARS-L 16" Shovelnose 5.56 Piston Rifle

The LMT MARS-L 16" Shovelnose is a 5.56 NATO semi-automatic rifle built around Lewis Machine & Tool’s Monolithic Rail Platform (MRP) and a short-stroke gas piston operating system. The monolithic upper receiver and handguard are machined from a single aluminum forging, providing a continuous 1913 Picatinny top rail and multiple M-LOK attachment points for mounting accessories. This configuration includes a 16-inch piston-driven barrel with a two-position adjustable gas system, allowing users to adjust the rifle for different ammunition types or suppressed and unsuppressed operation.

The rifle is equipped with the LMT MARS-L forged ambidextrous lower receiver, which incorporates ambidextrous controls for the safety, magazine release, bolt catch, and bolt release. The platform also uses LMT’s MRP quick-disconnect barrel system, allowing compatible barrels to be changed using the receiver’s dual locking bolts. Additional features include a chrome-lined 1:7 twist barrel, enhanced piston bolt carrier group, AXLE two-stage trigger, SOPMOD stock, and the Shovelnose M-LOK upper receiver chassis.
