It has been one year since the launch of the SilencerCo Salvo 12, the first commercially viable shotgun silencer on the market. The Salvo made a big splash when it was announced, and for good reason too. It has the ability to fire in 4 different sizes from 6”, 8”, 10”, and the original 12” configuration. Add to that the ability to attach to any shotgun with a choke, and even some without (KSG-Saiga), it’s no wonder that the Salvo has been a hit. When testers first shot the Salvo, everyone was impressed. The sound and recoil reduction was significant. Once it was available for sale, however, a few people were cautious about adding the weight of a silencer to the end of an already long shotgun barrel. But once people got their approved form 4’s in hand, the doubters quickly changed their minds. While the Salvo does add weight to the end of the barrel, it is very manageable. When the Salvo arrived at Silencer Shop last year, it was just in time for Texas dove season. Naturally, I took it hunting. I’m not going to lie and say that I didn’t notice the silencer on the end of the gun because I did, and it did require me to make some adjustments in my shooting style. However I still got my limit, and the reaction from the birds was very interesting. They didn’t immediately juke and dart away as they do when hunting with an unsupressed shotgun. Also, while the weight did make my support arm a little tired by the end of the day, I noticed that my shoulder wasn’t sore one bit. After letting my hunting buddies shoot with it, they were just as impressed as I was. Salvo Testing Other Salvo shooters have experienced the same thing. Jason Hallmark, a fellow hunter, Texan, and writer for Tactical Gun Review, had this to say: “After three days swinging it, I was surprised that its weight made a little difference in my reaction times.” Jason sums up his experience with this: “Is the SilencerCo Salvo worth it?  ABSOLUTELY!  I spent the weekend with this can and put no less than four types of ammo, a total of around 200 rounds through it.  My ears never rang, and I could hear when the empty hull hit the ground.” Jason with salvo As impressive as the Salvo is for hunters, there are several other applications that need to be mentioned. Police departments are us the Salvo for door breaching. For home defense, you have added hearing protection. And for new or young shooters, the reduced recoil is a big plus. For new or young shooters. Finally, most people don’t think about how they can help preserve the hearing of their favorite bird hunting companion, their dog. With the Salvo, your dog doesn’t suffer the hearing loss that they normally would. This is just a small overview of the benefits of owning a SilencerCo Salvo 12, and the stories from satisfied customers keep coming in. Many videos and articles have been written about this unique silencer, but the best way to experience it is to shoot one. If you have a friend that has a Salvo, go out and shoot it with them. If you aren’t that lucky, you can attend one of the silencer demos that take place across the country. The next event that we will be at is the Texas Firearms Festival November 14th and 15th. The Salvo will be on demo and attendees will have the opportunity to try it out for themselves. Here is to another great year with the SilencerCo Salvo 12, and if you have one of these great silencers share your story with us below, or send us some pictures on Facebook.
